The vast majority of the Muslim women I have met are very nice people… yet I would like to hear a response of how Muslim women are treated under Islam. This video from CNN really bothered me about how these dear precious women are being treated in the Muslim world. I just feel that if you love those women so much why not speak out as loud as you can… give them a voice so to speak. There are SO many human rights violations under Islam, this is the first one that needs to be addressed.
While we shouldn’t ignore the suffering of these women – I think it’s more important to focus on the log in our own culture’s eye. The abuse of women in the west is horrific. Souse abuse in my nice suburban neighborhood right here in Denver is horrible. Pornography is rampant (among men and women).
How about we focus on loving the other and worrying about our own sin.
I appreciate your thinking so very much Carl. It is refreshing in our judgmental culture. Thank you.
I so very much enjoyed listening to Chris. I am thinking that you have an amazing wife! Her heart shows in her face as she speaks. I would love to hear more from her too……
Carl, I hope to God that non of those wonderful sweet women who are suffering under sharia law read what you said in response to me. How disheartening would it be to hear a person in America say we have to get our crud together before we deal with the crud that is seen in female persecution in Islamic nations? You are right, we need to deal with our own Logs that rest in our own eye… yet, should we ignore the plight of those women who suffer in Muslim Nations? It’s amazing Carl how quick you are to jump on to Israel’s back when they are accused of supposed human rights violations… and yet you seem to drag your feet in moral relevance when dealing with Arab women who get the crap slapped out of them (and worse) by Islamic men. If you want social justice for Palestinians… why not women in Islamic Worlds… and why are you not vocal as much?
For me Carl… when we don’t address the plight of women in the Islamic world… we are no better than the two men who walked by the beaten pilgrim on the road to Jericho.
Profoundly disappointed! It was like reading a northerner before the civil war telling her friends how black women down south are just like us, they care about their families, love their children, and never a word about their chains, except to say they can be worn as fashion accessories! A woman in Afghanistan was beaten to death for having a quarter of her iris showing! A prominent Saudi cleric has said showing two eyes is too much, women only need to use one eye. Women in Saudi cannot vote, drive a car, leave home unless a male blood relative takes them for a walk and none of this bothers you
?? Sure, the upper middle class can get around some of this, so why worry about the poor? Truly disgusting.
So “right-on” Chris. How I love passing this stuff on to my friends!
